L'Institut du Monde Arabe hosts the exhibition The Majlis from January 8 to March 10, 2019. This exhibition is composed of a unique set of exceptional objects acquired over the years by the great Qatari collector Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al -Thani, met with immense success first in Malta and then at the end of 2018, in Paris, at UNESCO headquarters. Before continuing its journey through Europe and then to the United States and China, it makes a stop at the IMA: a new opportunity for the public to discover this unique set of remains from around the world that reflect the interaction of civilizations of the past and constitute a moving plea for dialogue between those of the present. At the heart of the exhibition, visitors will be able to stop by majlis, a place of exchange, reflection and transmission at the heart of tradition and culture throughout the Arabian Gulf. The objects presented are fascinating as much by their beauty as by the testimony they all bear of an intercultural and interreligious dialogue old, alive and fertile, marked by tolerance, listening and openness to others.
