The Luxembourg Museum organize an exhibition entitled "Les Nabis et le décor" dedicated to Nabi Decorative Art, a post-Impressionist avant-garde movement born on the fringe of academic painting, from March 13 to June 30, 2019. This exhibition is the first in France devoted to the decorative and ornamental art of the Nabis. Yet it is an essential area for these artists who wanted to break the line between fine and applied arts. The course shows a representative selection of their works, which are distinguished by simplified forms, flexible lines, patterns without modeling, influenced by Japanese art. Bringing together a hundred paintings, drawings, prints and objets d'art, it allows to show today scattered decorative ensembles. This exhibition is organized by the Réunion des Musées Nationaux - Grand Palais, Musée d'Orsay and the Center for the Study of Nabis and Symbolism in Paris.
